Case Studies: Pharmaceutical

The Company – Fluid Air

Fluid Air Inc. is an OEM and systems integrator of pharmaceutical processing equipment headquartered in Aurora, Illinois. Their systems are responsible for constant real-time data collection. Should there be any questions concerning the final product, the data collected must be retained by their customers to satisfy FDA requirements. These questions could include audits of a current drug product, or products in clinical trials awaiting final FDA approval.

DPS’ Solution: What the Client Says

Fluid Air needed a simple, cost-effective solution in order to avoid system failure. They knew the weakest point in its system was the hard drive, and after much research, they decided to use a DPS product, with its patented Duplidisk3/4 (DD3/DD4)  technology. This eliminated the fear of hard drive failures, because it didn’t require special drivers, was OS independent and extremely cost effective.

Fluid Air originally used the Duplidisk3 (dd3) PCI slot product and then switched to the MicroRAID version when it was launched. They quickly learned that this solution was more appropriate for their industrial applications.

MicroRAID is ideal for environments restricted on space or where no PCI slots are available. Now, Fluid Air supplies a Duplidisk product in every system they sell and manufacture.

Unique Product Features

DPS’ DupliDisk3/4 (DD3/DD4) IDE/SATA RAID 1 controller provides real-time drive mirroring. If your hard drive crashes, your computer continues to run smoothly with no data loss. The product operates by writing data both to your original drive and to a backup drive. DupliDisk3:

• Requires no system resources.
• Document changes occur simultaneously on the primary and mirror drives.
• No delay time and writes are automatic.
• Sounds an alarm and automatically switches all operations to backup should your hard drive fail -your system
continues to operate with no downtime or loss of data.
• No high costs or complicated installations.
•Requires no device drivers, uses no IRQ or system memory, so it causes none of the software or hardware conflicts that plague computer systems.
