Copying your hard drive data to a new drive isn't fun. It can take days--or even weeks of work, aggravation and often frustration. Can't find a program disk? Don't remember where you got that video codec or device driver? Missing your favorite font?

Move Your Whole Drive At One Time

Using hard drive migration software to copy a boot drive is a very different story. With migration software you move everything from the old drive to the new one in one simple operation. That's where EzMigration comes in. EzMigration doesn't copy your files one by one. It transfer an exact duplicate, or image copy, of your original drive to your new or larger driver. When you migrate your drive contents as a drive image, your new drive will contains an identical copy of your original drive. Everything gets transferred, including any partitioning on the original drive.

File Copying Won't Do

You cannot migrate to a new or larger boot drive by simply copying your files from one drive to another because this will not transfer the boot partition and the new drive will not be bootable. To migrate a boot drive, you can either rebuild the drive from scratch or you can use migration software to transfer an image copy.

Expanding the Partition

Hard drive migration is not all that EzMigration does. EzMigration software offers another very important feature--partition expansion. Whenever you transfer an image copy of your original drive to a new drive, the image creates a partition on the new drive. If your old and new drives are the same size, the partition will occupy all the space on the new one. But, if you are like most people, you are buying a new drive because you need a larger drive with more space.

Get All the Space You Paid For

If your new drive is bigger than your old one--if you're copying the contents of an 80 GB drive to a 200 GB drive, for example--you will end up with a partition the size of your old drive on the new drive and you will be left with a lot of empty space on the larger drive that you cannot access. In the case of our example, you would have a new drive with a perfect bootable copy of your original drive in an 80 GB partition and you would have 120 GB of inaccessible storage space.
