Move Your Whole Drive At One Time

Copying your hard drive data to a new drive isn't fun. It can take days--or even weeks of work, aggravation and often frustration. Can't find a program disk? Don't remember where you got that video codec or device driver? Missing your favorite font?

Using migration software to migrate a boot drive is a very different story. With migration software you move everything from the old drive to the new one in one simple operation. Sometimes called disk copy or drive copy software, drive migration software gives you the ability to move, or migrate, everything on your hard drive en masse. When you migrate a drive, you don't just migrate your data files. When you clone a drive in this way, you don't just migrate your data files. You transfer all of your installed applications and preferences as well. Expanding the Partition

Hard drive migration is not all that EzMigration does. EzMigration software offers another very important feature--partition expansion. Whenever you transfer an image copy of your original drive to a new drive, the image creates a partition on the new drive. If your old and new drives are the same size, the partition will occupy all the space on the new one. But, if you are like most people, you are buying a new drive because you need a larger drive.

Get All the Space You Paid For

If your new drive is bigger than your old one--if you're copying the contents of an 80 GB drive to a 200 GB drive, for example--you will end up with a partition the size of your old drive on the new drive and you will be left with a lot of empty space on the larger drive that you cannot access. In the case of our example, you would have a new drive with a perfect copy of your original drive in an 80 GB partition and you would have 120 GB of inaccessible storage space.
